Common Questions
What’s hypnosis?
Hypnosis is a natural and safe state of focused attention, similar to when you’re deeply absorbed in a book, daydream, or lost in thought. In hypnotherapy, it’s simply a form of guided imagination, where a trained therapist helps you relax and focus your mind.
In this calm, relaxed state, your mind becomes more open and responsive to helpful suggestions, making it easier to create positive changes in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours.

Will you be able to control my mind and know all my secrets?
You’re always in control during hypnosis—it’s not mind control or unconsciousness. Instead, it’s a deeply relaxed, heightened state of awareness and concentration that most people experience in everyday life without even realising it.
I will not know any of your secrets unless you share it proactively and consciously to help with your therapy.

Will you make me cluck like a chicken?
Only if that’s secretly on your bucket list… but in reality, no.
It’s stage hypnosis that is designed for entertainment, where people volunteer to play along.
Hypnotherapy is very different—it’s a calm, professional process focused on helping you make positive changes.
You’re always aware, always in control, and definitely not about to sprout feathers.

Can we do virtual sessions over Zoom or Teams?
Absolutely. I offer hypnotherapy sessions via Zoom, making it easy for you to access support from the comfort of your own home.
In fact, many people find online sessions even more effective—you’re in a familiar, relaxed environment, with no travel time or pressure. All you need is a quiet space, a stable internet connection, and a comfortable place to sit or lie back.
Virtual hypnotherapy is just as personal, focused, and impactful as in-person sessions—just more convenient and flexible around your lifestyle.

Are there weekend appointments available?
I don’t offer weekend appointments, as that time is dedicated to my family.
However, I provide a range of weekday sessions, including flexible daytime and evening options, so we can usually find a time that fits comfortably around your schedule.

How much does it cost?

Can I contact you between appointments?
In most cases, you won’t need to contact me between sessions. Hypnotherapy is designed to equip you with practical tools and techniques so you can confidently manage thoughts, feelings, and situations on your own.
Between sessions, you’ll often have simple exercises to use, which are an important part of the process and help reinforce the positive changes we’re working on together.
Of course, you’re always welcome to get in touch for practical matters such as rescheduling or cancelling an appointment.

Can you help if I have more than one issue?
Yes, absolutely. It’s very common to experience more than one challenge at the same time—whether that’s anxiety, sleep issues, confidence, or habits.
Hypnotherapy works by addressing the underlying patterns in the mind, so improving one area often has a positive ripple effect on others. We’ll work together to prioritise what matters most to you and create a clear, manageable plan so you feel supported—not overwhelmed.

What can I expect during my appointments?
Hypnotherapy sessions are structured, calm, and easy to follow, which many clients find reassuring from the very start.
In your initial consultation, we’ll talk through what you’d like help with, explain how hypnotherapy works, and outline what future sessions will look like, so you know exactly what to expect during the course of your therapy.
Ongoing sessions typically last around 50 minutes and include:
A friendly, practical conversation to understand progress and support you with tools and strategies
A period of guided relaxation and visualisation (hypnosis) to help your mind absorb positive changes
Each session builds on the last, helping you feel more confident, in control, and supported throughout the process.

Will you discuss me with other Health and Social Care Professionals (HSCPs)?
I am only able to contact other HSCPs with your written consent. In the event, that I write to your GP, to notify them that you are receiving treatment and then when the treatment ends, I would require your signature in line with GDPR regulations. The only exception would be if I believed that you were about to harm yourself or others. In this case I would be required to inform the relevant authorities as part of my ‘Duty of Care’. However, I would make every effort to discuss this with you before taking any action. Legally. I would also have to provide information to the police as set out in a warrant or court order, should the situation arise.
